Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah celebrated National Science Day with great enthusiasm and academic spirit on 28th February 2026 in the college premises under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. Shallu Samyal. The event reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting scientific temper and innovation among students. This year’s theme, “Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat,” was the focal point of the celebration. The programme began with an address highlighting the importance of empowering women in scientific research, innovation, and leadership roles. Speakers emphasized that the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) can only be realized when women actively participate and lead in STEM fields. Students delivered insightful speeches acknowledging the contributions of women scientists and stressing the need for equal opportunities, mentorship, and encouragement for young women aspiring to pursue careers in science and technology. The discussions also connected the theme with emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence, showcasing how inclusive growth strengthens national progress. A major highlight of the event was the screening of a documentary on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The documentary provided valuable insights into the evolution, applications, and ethical dimensions of AI. It illustrated how AI is transforming sectors such as healthcare, education, industry, and governance, and inspired students to explore technological advancements responsibly and innovatively. The celebration was organized by the Science Club of the college. The Incharge of the Science Club, Dr. Sonika Khajuria, played a pivotal role in planning and coordinating the event, ensuring its smooth and successful conduct. Dr. Ashma Gupta also made significant contributions to the programme, motivating students to engage actively with the theme and contemporary scientific developments.
