Youth Parliament on “Budget Pe Charcha” Organised at Government Degree College, Bishnah

Government Degree College (GDC), Bishnah, through its Department of Political Science, under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organised a Youth Parliament on the theme “Budget Pe Charcha” on 9th February 2026. The programme was organised under the able leadership of the Principal, GDC Bishnah, Dr. Shallu Samyal ji, whose guidance and encouragement played a pivotal role in the successful conduct of the event. While addressing the gathering, Dr. Samyal highlighted the importance of Youth Parliament as an effective platform for nurturing democratic values, leadership qualities, and active citizenship among the youth. She urged students to remain informed, confident, and responsible citizens, emphasising that such forums help develop critical thinking, public speaking skills, and a deeper understanding of parliamentary democracy. The programme commenced with a formal welcome of the dignitaries and participants by Prof. Shrotika Rajput. A total of 15 students actively participated in the Youth Parliament and demonstrated remarkable skills in presentation, confidence, critical thinking, and parliamentary debate. The deliberations were insightful and reflected a sound understanding of the Union Budget and its socio-economic implications. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Ashwini Sharma ji, former MLA, Bishnah Constituency, who appreciated the initiative taken by the college and motivated the students to stay informed and actively engaged in democratic processes. Shri Arun Prabhat ji, a noted social activist, was also present on the occasion and shared valuable insights with the participants. The student participants impressed the audience with their excellent presentations, well-reasoned arguments, and disciplined conduct, making the Youth Parliament a highly enriching academic experience. The entire programme was meticulously organised by Prof. Shrotika Rajput, IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Political Science, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth and successful execution of the event. Several faculty members contributed significantly to the success of the programme, including Prof. Rashmi Arya, Dr. Preeti Mahajan, Dr. Koushel Kiran, Prof. Sania Hamid, Dr. Sapna Bhargav, Dr. Ashma Gupta, Dr. Kusum,Prof.Nisha, Dr. Sonika Sharma, and Dr. Vimpal. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organisers, and students for their active participation and support.
