Report on Three-Day Workshop on “Cyber Security”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Cyber Security Cell of Government Degree College, Bishnah, successfully organized a Three-Day Workshop on “Cyber Security” from November 6 to November 8, 2025. The workshop aimed to promote awareness, understanding, and preparedness regarding cyber safety, digital hygiene, and responsible online behavior among students and faculty members.

The three-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff of GDC Bishnah, as well as invited participants from Boys Higher Secondary School, Bishnah, and Dogra Degree College, Jammu.

Day 1: November 6, 2025

The inaugural session commenced with an introduction by Prof. Shrotika Rajput, IQAC Convenor, who emphasized the growing relevance of cyber security in the digital era.

A warm welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sapna Bhargav, Faculty, Department of English, followed by lighting of the traditional lamp.

The resource person for the day, Mr. Amit Bhat, Cyber Security Trainer at NIIT Foundation (Cisco Project), delivered an insightful lecture on “Digital Literacy and Ethical Online Conduct,” covering cyber hygiene, safe browsing, password protection, and real-life examples of identity theft and phishing scams.

The session was organized under the guidance of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal, and coordinated by Dr. Ashma Gupta, Convenor, Cyber Security Cell.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, Faculty, Department of English.

Day 2: November 7, 2025

The second day featured an expert lecture by Mr. Vishal Mahajan, Project Manager (IT Head), SICOP, on “Emerging Cyber Threats and Preventive Strategies.”

Mr. Mahajan explained evolving cyber threats such as phishing, ransomware, social engineering, and ways to protect data through multi-factor authentication and secure networks.

Students from Boys Higher Secondary School, Bishnah, and Dogra Degree College, Jammu, actively participated, enriching the session.

The day ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kusum, Head, Department of Punjabi.

Day 3: November 8, 2025

The final day focused on “Cyber Crime Investigation and Preventive Measures.” The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Koushal Kiran, Head, Department of Urdu.

The resource person, Inspector Bhupinder Singh Sasan, Investigating Officer, Cyber Police Station, Jammu, shared real-life cases of cyber fraud, phishing, online financial scams, and explained how cyber police investigate cases under legal frameworks.

Students and faculty from various institutions attended and engaged in discussions.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Shrotika Rajput, IQAC Convenor.

Conclusion

The Three-Day Workshop on “Cyber Security” proved to be a highly educational and enriching experience. Participants gained essential knowledge about digital safety, cybercrime prevention, and responsible online behavior. The program successfully enhanced digital literacy and supported the college’s mission of promoting cyber awareness in today’s technology-driven world.
