The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College, Bishnah, organized a Nukkad Natak on HIV/AIDS on 9th October 2025 in the adopted village Ratnal, Bishnah, under the patronage of the Principal, Dr. Shallu Samyal. The event formed an integral part of the Red Ribbon Club’s annual activities aimed at promoting awareness about health, hygiene, and the prevention of life-threatening diseases such as HIV/AIDS among the community. The programme sought to sensitize rural residents about the causes, transmission, and preventive measures of HIV/AIDS while addressing the widespread misconceptions and stigma associated with the disease. The Sarpanch of Ratnal village extended full cooperation and arranged for the gathering of villagers at the Panchayat Ghar, where the students presented the Nukkad Natak with great enthusiasm and social commitment. Through powerful dialogue, emotional expression, and realistic portrayal, the students successfully conveyed the message of compassion, inclusion, and awareness. The Nukkad Natak emphasized that HIV/AIDS is a health condition that demands care, understanding, and medical attention rather than discrimination or fear. The performance also encouraged the youth to act as ambassadors of awareness in their surroundings. The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Anshu Sawhney and Dr. Ashma Gupta, Nodal Officers of the Red Ribbon Club, along with Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Programme Officer. The combined efforts of the Red Ribbon Club, NSS volunteers, and faculty members made the programme a resounding success. The activity was well received by the local residents, who appreciated the students’ efforts in spreading such an important and socially relevant message. Overall, the Nukkad Natak served as an effective platform for community engagement, helping bridge the gap between awareness and action and reinforcing the college’s commitment to social outreach and public health education.
As part of the World AIDS Day celebrations, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Bishnah organized a Poster Making Competition on HIV/AIDS on 20th December 2025. The activity was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about HIV/AIDS, its causes, preventive measures, and the social challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS. The event also aimed to promote empathy, inclusivity, and responsible behavior among the youth. The programme was conducted under the able supervision and guidance of the Principal of the college, Dr. Shallu Samyal, whose constant encouragement contributed to the successful organization of the event. The overall coordination and smooth execution of the activity were ensured by the Nodal Officers of the Red Ribbon Club, Dr. Anshu Sawhney and Dr. Ashma Gupta, who motivated students to participate actively and ensured disciplined conduct throughout the programme. A total of ten students from different semesters participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. Through their posters on the theme “OVERCOMING DISRUPTION, TRANSFORMING THE AIDS RESPONSE”the participants creatively expressed key messages related to the causes, modes of transmission, prevention, and social impact of HIV/AIDS. The posters served as powerful tools of visual communication, emphasizing awareness, early prevention, and the need to eliminate myths and stigma associated with the disease. The activity successfully combined artistic expression with social awareness, thereby sensitizing both participants and viewers. The competition was evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Dr. Shrotika Rajput, Head, Department of Political Science, and Dr. Koushal Kiran, Head, Department of Urdu. The judges appreciated the originality and effort of the participants and assessed the posters on the basis of creativity, clarity of message, relevance to the theme, and overall presentation. Their constructive feedback further motivated the students to engage in socially relevant creative activities. The winners of the competition were Mr. Krishan (Semester V), who secured the first position, followed by Ms. Ariba Ansari (Semester III), who achieved the second position, while the third position was bagged by Ms. Geetika Devi (Semester V). The programme concluded with motivating remarks by Dr. Anju Bala, Head, Department of Mathematics, who appreciated the initiative taken by the Red Ribbon Club in observing World AIDS Day in a meaningful manner. She emphasized the crucial role of youth in spreading awareness, promoting healthy practices, and developing a compassionate and stigma-free society. She also encouraged students to actively participate in such awareness programmes in the future. Overall, the activity proved to be successful in achieving its objectives by enhancing students’ understanding of HIV/AIDS while fostering creativity, social responsibility, and community awareness.

The entire program was conducted by the Nodal officers of Red Ribbon Club Dr Anshu Sawhney and Dr Ashma Gupta.
A total of 10 students participated in the competition and displayed their creativity and awareness through posters focusing on the causes, prevention, and social impact of HIV/AIDS. The activity not only encouraged artistic expression but also sensitized students and the audience about the importance of spreading awareness to combat the stigma associated with the disease.

The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC), Bishnah, in collaboration with the Women Development Cell, organized an insightful extension lecture on women's hygiene and healthcare. The event, held on 10th March 2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff, fostering awareness about crucial health and hygiene practices.
The lecture featured expert insights from Dr Ayesha and Dr Neetu of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bishnah, who provided valuable guidance on maintaining personal hygiene, menstrual health, and the importance of regular medical check-ups. Their expertise added great value to the discussion, equipping attendees with practical knowledge for better health and well-being.
The event was organized under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal, GDC Bishnah, whose support was instrumental in its success. Dr. Ratika Sharma and Dr. Ashma Gupta, nodal officers of the Red Ribbon Club, played a key role in coordinating the session and ensuring its smooth execution.

Bishnah, March 3, 2025: The JK AIDS Control Society, under the Department of Health and Medical Education, J&K, in collaboration with Savraj Production, Jammu, the Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bishnah, and the Anti-Drug Club of GDC Bishnah, organized a powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, misconceptions, and available support systems.
The street play, performed by the talented artists of Savraj Production, effectively conveyed important messages about HIV transmission, preventive measures, and the need to break the stigma surrounding the disease. The performance also highlighted the AIDS toll-free helpline number, ensuring that those in need know where to seek help. The program was organised under the aegis of Dr Shallu Samyal , Principal of the College.
Senior faculty member Dr. Anju Bala appraised the efforts of both students and performers, appreciating their contribution to spreading awareness. She emphasized the importance of youth involvement in public health initiativesand commended the collaborative efforts of JK AIDS Control Society, Savraj Production, the Red Ribbon Club, and the Anti-Drug Club in organizing this meaningful event.
The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and staff, who engaged in discussions following the performance.
