As part of the National Youth Day celebrations, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Bishnah organized a Poster Making Competition on HIV/AIDS on 18th September 2025. The event was conducted under the able supervision of the Principal of the college, Dr. Shallu Samyal. The entire program was conducted by the Nodal officers of Red Ribbon Club Dr Anshu Sawhney and Dr Ashma Gupta. A total of 10 students participated in the competition and displayed their creativity and awareness through posters focusing on the causes, prevention, and social impact of HIV/AIDS. The activity not only encouraged artistic expression but also sensitized students and the audience about the importance of spreading awareness to combat the stigma associated with the disease. The competition was judged by Dr. Shrotika Rajput, Head, Department of Political Science, and Dr. Koushal Kiran, Head, Department of Urdu. The judges appreciated the efforts of the participants and evaluated the posters on the basis of creativity, message, and presentation. The winners of the competition were as follows: • 1st Position:Ms. Ariba Ansari, Semester 3rd • 2nd Position:Mr. Krishan Kumar, Semester 3rd • 3rd Position:Ms. Renkal Kumari, Semester 3rd The event concluded with motivating words from the Principal, Dr. Shallu Samyal, who praised the Red Ribbon Club for its initiative in linking youth empowerment with social awareness, thereby inspiring students to contribute positively to society.


Extension Lecture on Women’s Hygiene and Healthcare Organized at GDC Bishnah.

The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC), Bishnah, in collaboration with the Women Development Cell, organized an insightful extension lecture on women's hygiene and healthcare. The event, held on 10th March 2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff, fostering awareness about crucial health and hygiene practices. The lecture featured expert insights from Dr Ayesha and Dr Neetu of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bishnah, who provided valuable guidance on maintaining personal hygiene, menstrual health, and the importance of regular medical check-ups. Their expertise added great value to the discussion, equipping attendees with practical knowledge for better health and well-being. The event was organized under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal, GDC Bishnah, whose support was instrumental in its success. Dr. Ratika Sharma and Dr. Ashma Gupta, nodal officers of the Red Ribbon Club, played a key role in coordinating the session and ensuring its smooth execution. The vote of thanks was given by Dr Rashmi Arya , convenor Women Development Cell of the college. The collaboration with the Women Development Cell further reinforced the college’s commitment to promoting women's welfare and holistic development. The Red Ribbon Club and Women Development Cell of GDC Bishnah continue to take proactive steps in organizing such initiatives, ensuring the well-being and empowerment of students.


Nukkad Natak on HIV/AIDS and Drug Awareness Organized at GDC Bishnah.

Bishnah, March 3, 2025: The JK AIDS Control Society, under the Department of Health and Medical Education, J&K, in collaboration with Savraj Production, Jammu, the Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bishnah, and the Anti-Drug Club of GDC Bishnah, organized a powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, misconceptions, and available support systems. The street play, performed by the talented artists of Savraj Production, effectively conveyed important messages about HIV transmission, preventive measures, and the need to break the stigma surrounding the disease. The performance also highlighted the AIDS toll-free helpline number, ensuring that those in need know where to seek help. The program was organised under the aegis of Dr Shallu Samyal , Principal of the College. Senior faculty member Dr. Anju Bala appraised the efforts of both students and performers, appreciating their contribution to spreading awareness. She emphasized the importance of youth involvement in public health initiativesand commended the collaborative efforts of JK AIDS Control Society, Savraj Production, the Red Ribbon Club, and the Anti-Drug Club in organizing this meaningful event. The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and staff, who engaged in discussions following the performance. The organizers reiterated their commitment to continued awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS and drug prevention, aiming to educate the youth and build a healthier, stigma-free society
