The Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Bishnah, under the able leadership of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal, GDC Bishnah, organised a Poster Making Competition on “HIV/AIDS Awareness” followed by an Awareness Walkathon on 12 August 2026. A total of 12 students participated in the poster-making competition and creatively highlighted messages related to HIV/AIDS prevention, awareness, healthy practices and elimination of stigma. The competition was judged by Dr. Preeti Mahajan, HOD Education, and Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada, HOD Hindi. Akshara Chawla (Semester 3rd) secured the first prize, Riya Bharti (Semester 1st) won the second prize, while Gokul Verma (Semester 1st) secured the third prize. Following the competition, students participated in an HIV/AIDS Awareness Walkathon as part of the Tiranga Rally organised by the NSS Unit. Students carried their awareness posters along with the National Flag, while other students also joined the rally. The initiative conveyed a strong message of health awareness, patriotism, social responsibility and the need to eradicate stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. The event was conducted by Dr. Sonika Khajuria and Dr. Ashma Gupta, Nodal Officers, Red Ribbon Club. The organisers expressed their gratitude to Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Programme Officer, for her valuable cooperation and support in integrating the awareness walkathon with the Tiranga Rally. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Shallu Samyal emphasised the importance of nurturing socially aware and responsible youth who can become ambassadors of positive change in society. The programme concluded with a collective message of “Awareness, Empathy and Responsibility” towards creating a healthier, informed and stigma-free society.
