Gdc Bishnah Won over all trophy in District level sports meet organised by Bharat Nehru Yuva kender Jammu under the Minstry of Youth Affairs & sports govt of India. Total 6 events were there.
Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah organized a field visit to the three days Agriculture Summit and Kisan Mela at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) from 11th-13th of February 2026. The field exposure programme was organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Sports committee of the college in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to advancements in agriculture, allied sectors, entrepreneurship, and sustainable technologies. In addition to academic and technical learning, students enthusiastically participated in rural sports competitions organized as part of the mela, including tug of war, volleyball, kabaddi, and other traditional games. The students displayed remarkable discipline, team spirit and their impressive performances earned applause from faculty members, fellow students and guests present at the event. In 100 meters race (girls), Sonia Thakyal of Semester 6th and Muskan of Sem 2nd got 1st position, and Riya Targotra of Sem 6th got 2nd position, Roshan Bibi of Sem 4 and Simran Devi of Sem 4th secured 3rd position. In 100 meters race (boys), Mohd. Anwar of Semester 2nd got third position. Nitin Lakhotra of Sem 4 won Bronze medal in Shotput event. The Kabaddi and Volleyball teams (boys) of our college got first and second position respectively. The sports participation of students in the Kisan Mela was highly commendable. The event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their athletic talents and build confidence and competitive spirit in them. Overall, it was a successful and enriching experience for all participants. The Principal of GDC Bishnah, Dr. Shallu Samyal appreciated the efforts of Dr Shrotika Rajput, IQAC Coordinator, Prof Sania Hamid Vice-President IIC, Dr Sonika Khajuria Convener IIC and Sports Committee and members of IIC and Sports committee of the college for organizing such a meaningful exposure visit and congratulated the participants for their dedication, discipline, and outstanding sportsmanship.
